FARMACIA ORTO BOTANICO® is the oldest pharmacy of Biancavilla since it was set up on 17 December, 1733. For this reason it is classified as an Old Right chemist.

According to the deed dated 10 March 1840, registered on 13 May 1840, Giovambattista Monachello was the first owner.

Antonio Caselli, Monachello's grandson, inherited the chemist by solemn will, on 1 June, 1845. Afterwards Enrico Caselli inherited it .

Once Enrico Caselli was dead, his son, Antonino Enrico Caselli run the chemist but he became the owner only when his sisters Maria and Concettina renounced to it (the deed was drawn up on 7 September and registered on 24 April 1932).

The pharmacy was sold to Antonino Cantarella by a sale deed dated 13 February 1961. He was born in Santa Maria di Licodia (Catania) on 1 June 1929 and suddenly died in Florence on 17 October 1990.

Since then, the pharmacy was run by his heirs and his son, Salvatore Cantarella, is the responsible manager.

On 13 October 1993, the other heirs sold the pharmacy to Salvatore Cantarella, who became the sole proprietor of it on 1 April 1994 (Council Decree n. 9973, 4 March 1994).
The pharmacy's name was Farmacia del Dott. Salvatore Cantarella until 31 December 1996.
On 1 January 1997 its name changed into FARMACIA ORTO BOTANICO® of Salvatore Cantarella.
